How It Works
Step 1
In-Depth Assessment
New patients receive a thorough initial consultation. Your osteopath asks about your history, pain patterns, sport and training habits, and daily demands on your body. Physical testing covers posture, range of motion, joint stability, and muscle function.
Step 2
Hands-On Osteopathic Treatment
Treatment draws on a range of manual techniques: joint mobilisation, soft tissue massage, muscle energy techniques, dry needling, and stretching. Your osteopath explains the rationale behind each technique and adapts the session to what your body needs.
Step 3
Ongoing Support Across Disciplines
Your osteopath can draw on the full team at Alpha Sports Medicine. Need a strength program? Our exercise physiologist builds one. Persistent muscle tension? Our myotherapist handles it. Nutritional concerns? Our dietitian is in the clinic. It all happens with shared notes and direct communication between practitioners.

Common Questions
How far is Alpha Sports Medicine from Moonee Ponds?
We’re at 246A Union Road, Ascot Vale, about a 3-minute drive from Moonee Ponds along Mount Alexander Road or Maribyrnong Road. Street parking is available near the clinic.
What should I wear to an osteopathy appointment?
Comfortable, loose clothing works well. Your osteopath may need to observe and test movement in your shoulders, hips, and spine, so shorts and a t-shirt are ideal. We have a private treatment room for the assessment.
Is osteopathy safe during pregnancy?
Osteopaths are trained to treat pregnant patients safely. Our practitioners use modified techniques and positioning appropriate for each trimester. Back pain, pelvic girdle pain, and rib discomfort are common reasons pregnant patients visit our clinic.
Can osteopathy help with headaches?
Cervicogenic headaches (headaches caused by tension or dysfunction in the neck and upper back) respond well to osteopathic treatment. Your osteopath will assess your cervical spine, thoracic spine, and surrounding muscles to determine if manual therapy is appropriate for your type of headache.
Do you treat children and teenagers?
Yes. Our osteopaths see paediatric and adolescent patients for musculoskeletal conditions including growing pains, sports injuries, postural issues, and hypermobility. Treatment is adapted to the patient’s age, size, and developmental stage.
Can I see other practitioners at the clinic alongside my osteopath?
That’s exactly how we designed the clinic. Many patients see an osteopath for manual treatment and an exercise physiologist for strength work, or combine osteopathy with myotherapy or chiropractic. Your practitioners share clinical notes and coordinate your treatment plan directly.
